The Summer 2020 edition of Capsule Stories is now available for purchase!
Secondly, I'll share some background with you.
Towards the end of 2019, I began work on a collaborative mixed media exhibition. Phillip Walker, an exceptionally talented photographer based in Melbourne, approached me with a portfolio of work and an idea; an exhibition of his photography, and my poetry. Straight away, I loved the concept.
What followed was months of hard work. I pieced together a selection of his work that lent itself to a narrative, and wrote an individual poem to pair with every image. We lined up a venue (the wonderful Mixed Creative in Port Adelaide), and worked towards the launch. Unfortunately, the project was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the world gradually returns back to normal, we will be able to figure out when the exhibition can take place. In the meantime, I've been taking selected excerpts of the poetry and sending them for consideration in a few high quality publications. In time, I'm hoping to get the whole collection published in print form, but it will be a challenge to find a publisher that can not only print the poetry, but also do justice to the brilliance of the photography.
Capsule Stories is the first to feature an excerpt from this collection and I'm honoured to be a part of it. I already have another excerpt lined up for another release, so watch this space for more details!
